Workforce Utilisation Reporting for an Engineering and Labour Services Business

Live visibility of workforce utilisation, billable hours and capacity…

This engineering and labour services business was managing workforce reporting through spreadsheets, manual updates and month-end reports.

The team had plenty of data, but it was difficult to see what was happening during the month. By the time reports were ready, the business was already working through the next reporting period.

The company wanted a clearer way to track utilisation, billable hours and available capacity across teams and locations.Gemcutter worked with the business to build a Power BI dashboard showing billable hours, non-billable hours, maximum possible hours, utilisation percentage and monthly trends.

The dashboard is now used in regular management meetings to review current performance, identify capacity gaps and decide where attention is needed.

The result is a clearer view of workforce utilisation and stronger accountability across the team.

The Result

The business moved from manual, month-end reporting to live utilisation reporting that helps managers make decisions earlier and manage workforce capacity with more confidence.
