Finance reporting for the whole business was completed out of a series of outdated spreadsheets. The spreadsheets were complex, often incomplete and required significant manual updates from the team.
It was difficult to understand the details behind the numbers and arrive at insights and decisions quickly. The business priority was to:
Understand performance year-to-date against budget and forecast
Quickly understand which jobs were contributing to revenue and margin
Validate and understand the sales pipeline and revenue forecast
Manage overhead costs against project workload
Easily communicate performance and priorities to state managers
The project was approached in three phases, data model development, dashboard development and dashboard rollout.
Gemcutter worked closely with the IT and finance teams to define requirements and build the data model for use in Power BI. Training videos were recorded and roll out coordinated across states and territories.
The result was a concise dashboard suite for financial reporting that empowered the CEO, CFO, Executives, State Managers and finance team to make timely, relevant decisions and more effectively manage financial performance.
