The internal fleet management function of this large construction business consisted of about 1,000 assets, including cranes, trucks, buses, welders, generators, and light vehicles.
After a period of slow fleet growth, poor utilization and under-investment, the company was looking to improve the management and utilisation of the company-owned plant and equipment fleet.
The team was reacting to project demands and had no way to forward plan equipment requirements.
It was determined that better data management, analytics, and dashboards would improve the visibility of key metrics and help management drive performance more effectively.
Gemcutter supported the team to become data-driven, building a suite of dashboards whilst supporting the team to engage and own their use.
The result was a greater ability to schedule, manage and utilise company-owned plant and equipment.
The Result
Utilisation improved from 83% to 98%, net PnL quadrupled, and new capital investment was increased by over $25m.
